Antique Size Bed Dimensions are approximately 48 inches wide x 72 inches long. These are standard Antique size bed measurements. Antique Size Mattress depths can vary from just a few inches to 14 inches or more. Many times, actual Antique Size mattress dimensions will vary by one or two inches, usually smaller.
Back in the day, mattress and bed measurements were NOT standard. Local craftsmen built their mattresses and bed frames to whatever odd size the customer wanted and what fit a room. Today, these ODD size beds are called antiques because they are. BUT, they are not what the bedding industry has labeled antique.
I would like to have a dollar for every person that I have talked to who found a great DEAL on an antique headboard and frame only to find that NOTHING matched the size and they had to buy a custom size mattress. SO, always measure!
