Friendship Large Antique Finish Model Sail Boat with Exquisite Design

Yachts in the first half of the 20th C. were mostly built at small, local yards. Hull shape and rig were adapted from proven fishing vessels and pilot boats. Endurance and ease of use were key factors. The Friendship was designed as a family world cruiser, able to withstand all conditions. Two masted, plank-on-frame hull, detailed. Truly a classic.

The Age of Sail made exploration possible. It opened the world to trade and cultural exchange. Models were made as votives for the port chapel or as shipyard models to impress the Admiralty Lords. Or possibly just as an exquisite creation by a gifted model maker for a friend or patron.
