They are designed to be rained on and take the abuse of the elements, including the sun. They are not designed to sit in a puddle for days or float around in your pool. Of course, your other patio furniture is also not designed to float in your pool so no big deal. If they are used as a pool floater they will eventually become water logged. They are water resistant, not water proof.

We use a special highly durable fabric for our outdoor bean bag chairs called out dura which is a solution dyed, weather resistant fabric.
