San Francisco, California, Golden Gate Bridge Panoramic Picture 4
Large Size: 13 1/2 inches x 40 inches!
Panoramic photograph taken by renowned photographer James Blakeway.
It features, in the background, stunning downtown San Francisco with the San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge, which connects San Francisco with Oakland. Centered in the downtown area is the world famous Transamerica building, with its pyramid shape. Further left is the former federal prison, Alcatraz Island. In the foreground is the famous Golden Gate Bridge, which connects San Francisco to Sausalito. Its name is a reference to the Golden Gate Strait, which is the entrance to San Francisco Bay from the Pacific Ocean. The bridge was opened to vehicular traffic on May 28, 1937, and has carried almost 2 billion vehicles across to date.
