Panoramic photograph taken by renowned photographer James Blakeway. It features a downtown view of Saint Louis and the Jefferson Expansion Memorial Gateway Arch as seen across the Mississippi River. The arch was completed in 1965 and hosts over two million visitors each year. Seen through the center of the arch is the historic Old Courthouse, completed in 1862. To the left of the arch is Busch Memorial Stadium, home of the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. To the right is the Trans World Dome, home of the St. Louis Rams football team. St. Louis was founded as a fur-trading post and named for Louis IX of France.
